DirecTV subscribers might not be able to see WBAL-TV as of Jan. 1, according to a statement issued Saturday by the station's owners.
Hearst Television Inc., which owns Baltimore's NBC affiliate, said that it will refuse to let the station be carried on the satellite TV service if a new deal isn't reached on retransmission fees by the end of the year.
At this point, the statement seems more a negotiating strategy than anything else. But here it is:
