Checking in on Greivis Vasquez

Former Maryland star Greivis Vasquez is busy carving out his niche with the Memphis Grizzlies, but he took time to Tweet this while catching Syracuse's win over Michigan State on Tuesday night: "Watching Michigan State and I still remember like it was yestarday when we lost against them in the NCAA tournament! What a game! I miss my college team!"

The 6-3 Terps, who lost to the Temple Owls on Sunday, seem to be missing him, too.

Anyway, Vasquez spent most of the first three weeks of the NBA season chilling on the Grizzlies bench. But he beat out Acie Law to be the Grizzlies' backup point guard behind Mike Conley, and the native of Venezuela has played at least 12 minutes in 10 of the team's past 13 games.

Vasquez's stat line: 16 games played; 10.4 minutes per game, 3.8 PPG, 1.8 APG and 0.9 RPG
