A week ago, Bruce Boudreau was on the hot seat. Now his Capitals are on a hot streak.

Washington has won four of its past five games (the lone loss was to Pittsburgh in a shootout), and reclaimed first place in the Southeast Division with a 3-0 win over Montreal on Tuesday night. Alex Ovechkin is heating up, too. He piled up four goals and four assists during that span.

The Capitals now get a few days off to rest up and bust out their long johns umbrellas for the Winter Classic on New Year's Day. If you thought that rivalry game last Thursday was a thrill, wait until the Capitals and Penguins hop on the pond at Heinz Field (let's hope it isn't literally a pond).

The big question for the Capitals has nothing to do with Boudreau's job security. His starting goalie for the Winter Classic remains a mystery, and he even joked -- at least I think he was joking -- that both Semyon Varlamov and Michal Neuvirth could play in the Winter Classic. Stay tuned.
