Maryland coaches and players and fans would love to play in the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando. But North Carolina State might beat the Terps out. Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen has been lobbying for the Terps to play in one of the top games affiliated with the ACC.

Another promising choice, the Meineke Car Care Bowl, has been eyeing Clemson, among other prospects.

Could Maryland slip all the way to the Military Bowl? It's certainly possible.   SI.com's Stewart Mandel wrote Wednesday that Washington could be Maryland's destination.

It starts with the uncertainty regarding the Champs Sports Bowl, which holds the third pick and is deciding between NC State and Maryland. If it goes with the Wolfpack (as I expect), the Terps, plagued by poor home attendance this season, may fall all the way to the ACC's eighth pick, the Military Bowl in nearby Washington D.C.
