I was tied down Wednesday doing work for b's print product -- on newsstands now! -- but I wanted to circle back and give my quick thoughts on some Ravens items I didn't get a chance to address here.
--- Ravens fullback Le'Ron McClain won't be fined by the NFL after Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder claimed McClain spit on him Sunday. Does that mean he didn't do it? No. But there isn't enough evidence to determine if McClain was guilty of the charge. McClain Tweeted "Amen" after the news was announced. "Amen" is right; we can finally stop talking about loogies.
--- The Ravens got another minor distraction this week when Ray Rice wrote on Twitter that he got out of a ticket for illegal window tint by giving a police officer an autograph. Rice backpedaled Tuesday and the officer avoided punishment, so consider this case closed, too. Still, with the Ravens preparing to play the Falcons on a short week, these incidents were the last thing the team needed.
--- Haloti Ngata was named the AFC's Defensive Player of the Week, but why was he awarded for his play last week and not for his more dominating performances earlier in the season?
--- Sergio Kindle, who is making progress in his recovery, revealed the details of the fall that cost him the season. "From what I was told, I didn't roll down the stairs," he said. "They say I was crawling down trying to get down the stairs, but my head was bleeding, so the blood trail made it look like I might have [tumbled] down the stairs." That's a gruesome image.
--- It looks like Troy Smith will get another start for the 49ers. I'm pulling for him.
--- Former Ravens quarterback Kyle Boller and his wife, former Miss California Carrie Prejean, are reportedly expecting their first child. It was the first time Boller was on-target in his NFL career.
