The Buffalo Bills are expected to claim pass rusher Shawne Merriman off waivers, two sources told FoxSports' Jay Glazer.

This would be a major surprise because no teams were expected to pick him up off waivers. The Bills, who are the first team on the waiver list, would have to pay a prorated portion of his $3.2 million salary by claiming the three-time Pro Bowl player.

The Ravens had expressed interest in signing Merriman if he cleared waivers. The team would require Merriman to pass a physical and sign a low-money deal.

The addition of Merriman would help a Ravens pass rush that has the ninth-fewest sacks in the NFL (12.)
