As predicted here, the NFL game Thursday between the Baltimore Ravens and Atlanta Falcons was a huge ratings winner in Baltimore.

A average total audience of 429,000 households in the Baltimore market were tuned to the game. Of that number 330, 000 were tuned to WBAL-TV, which carried the game over the air, while the remainder watched on the NFL Network cable channel, which controlled rights to coverage.

The demographics for NFL Thursday Night Football were terrific as well: An audience of 235,000 viewers aged 25 to 54 watched in WBAL, while 100,000 viewed the game on the NFL Network.

For the two people who have been traveling the past 24 years on another continent and don't know how the game ended, the Ravens lost in the closing seconds to the Falcons by a score of 21 to 26.

Nationally, the audience was the largest for any opener in the five seasons of Thursday Night Football -- up 28 percent over last year's Thursday Night opener.
