Ravens and Panthers to meet without RB DeAngelo Williams

When the Ravens visit the Carolina Panthers Sunday, the defense won't have to worry about DeAngelo Williams.

The running back who rushed for 2,632 yards and 25 touchdowns in the previous two seasons was placed on injured reserve by the Panthers Wednesday. Williams has sat out the team's last three games after suffering a strained arch in his foot.

Jonathan Stewart did not play this past Sunday because of a concussion. If he's unavailable again, Carolina could turn to Mike Goodson, who gained 100 yards on 23 carries in a 31-16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past Sunday.Update: During a conference call with Baltimore media Wednesday, Panthers coach John Fox said of losing Williams, "Anytime you lose a Pro Bowl-caliber back, it's going to definitely hurt, but the next guy steps in. Mike Goodson did that a week ago."

Fox also said that Stewart did not practice Wednesday and that he is "day-to-day." Of Goodson perhaps getting his second consecutive start, Fox said, "That's a possibility."
