Laich nominated for SI's Sportsman of the Year

Capitals forward Brooks Laich, who scored the team's only goal in April's season-ending Game 7 loss to the Canadiens, garnered national attention for changing a stranger's tire on his way home from the devastating defeat. This week, Laich's good deed got him nominated for Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year.

This year's nominees include Philiies ace Roy Halladay, golfer Lorena Ochoa, the Butler men's basketball team and Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy, and the winner will be announced on Nov. 30.
