Just another reason to hate the Steelers

I've developed a long-lasting hatred over the years for the Pittsburgh Steelers. It comes with growing up in Cleveland. You're almost born with it, kind of like growing up in Baltimore and hating the Yankees. It's just they way it is.

So when I read Jamison Hensley's breakdown of the schedules of the top AFC teams, my disdain for the Steelers just grew. Here's a team that went 3-1 without its starting quarterback, has hit its stride since he returned and now has to face teams down with stretch with a combined 23-37 record.

On Sunday, the Steelers dismantled a Raiders team many thought was on the rise. The Steelers just crushed that notion. The only redeeming thing that came out of the game was Richard Seymour popping Ben Roethlisberger in the mouth. Should have hit him harder. We should take up a collection to pay his $25,000 fine.

I'm sure commissioner Roger Goodell was pretty conflicted about leveling that fine. After reading the investigative reports on Big Ben's Georgia incident, Goodell probably wanted to pop Roethlisberger in the mouth a few times.

So the Steelers face just two teams with winning records, the Ravens and the Jets, over the final six games. Maybe the Ravens can stem the tide on Dec. 5 in a nationally televised night game in Baltimore, but the remaining schedule sure sounds like a recipe for an AFC North crown and a week off during the first week of the playoffs.

And another reason to hate the Steelers.
