I'm about to head up to Owings Mills for Ravens practice, where a hot topic will be the Ravens' top-ranked pass defense going up against the Broncos' top-ranked passing attack on Sunday.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Entering their Week 5 matchup against the Ravens, the Broncos lead the NFL with 339.5 passing yards per game. Kyle Orton has more passing yards than Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and every other quarterback in the league. The immortal Brandon Lloyd is second in the NFL with 454 receiving yards, and fellow Broncos receiver Eddie Royal ranks 13th.
That's crazy, even more unbelievable than the Ravens boasting the NFL's top-ranked pass defense without Ed Reed and Domonique Foxworth. Raise your hand if you saw either of these things coming a month ago.
(If you just raised your hand, you're a big, fat phony.)
Anyway, John Harbaugh said his Ravens aren't taking the Broncos lightly after their emotional win over the Steelers (of course he's going to say that). And while I think the Ravens will beat the Broncos on Sunday, this will be the secondary's toughest test to date.
"Offensively, they've got weapons all over the place," Harbaugh said Monday. "They're the No. 1 passing team in the league, by far. It's going to be a huge challenge for us that way. They've got weapons; four wide receivers that are all catching about the same number of balls [and] two returners that can hurt you at any time. So, how can you have a letdown when you're playing somebody like that?"
OK, off to Owings Mills.
Wait, one more thing: For the love of jorts, Josh McDaniels, please give us some Tim Tebow, even if for just a few snaps. I want to see this kid play in person.
Oh, and another thing: Do you think Heaven will explode if Ray Lewis tackles Tebow on Sunday?
