Liam Neeson, who acted with "Hangover" star Bradley Cooper in "The A-Team," has jumped into the role of the Thailand tattoo artist that had been planned for Mel Gibson in "The Hangover 2." Non-"Hangover" Neeson fans can next see him in the suspense film "The Next Three Days" (opening November 19) and hear him in "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" (December 10) in which he once again lends his commanding yet furry tones to the Lion, Aslan.
Speaking of sprawling fantasies, Peter Jackson happened to announce that Martin Freeman (left) will play Bilbo Baggins in "The Hobbit" right before the American premiere on PBS last night of "Sherlock." This modern-day variation on Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories stars Freeman as Dr. Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock. Did anyone catch the first one? How do you think it bodes for Freeman as Bilbo? (I thought Freeman's quizzical normality was swamped by all the zaniness in the film version of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.")
