Miami game poses a 'test' for Terps

*Coach Ralph Friedgen said Saturday's Miami game (noon, ESPNU) is "going to be a test for us to see where we are as a program. I'm anxious to see where we're at." Miami quarterback Jacory Harris has a concussion, and his status is uncertain.

*Fridge said he sent players a text message after N.C. State dealt Florida State its first conference loss on Thursday night "saying we've got an unbelievable opportunity (and) we need to be able to take care of business."

Some coaches claim to have tunnel vision and not pay attention to the rest of the conference. But, trust me, they know what's going on with their rivals. Florida State and N.C. State are both future opponents, so that's a game Maryland would have been paying attention to.

*Friedgen said Sunday that Maryland will try to create some playing time for running back D.J. Adams, who runs hard. "He's definitely a north-south runner," the coach said.

*In his last two games, Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien is 40 for 60 for 350 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions. The kid can play, right?
