Chris Carr took over punt return duties from Tom Zbikowski in the second half of the Ravens' 31-17 victory over the Denver Broncos Sunday, in part, because Zbikowski suffered a rib injury.
A large bag of ice was wrapped around the right side of Zbikowski's ribcage, but he stressed that the injury was not serious.
"I got just this a little bit," Zbikowski said, pointing to the ice pack. "I just got a little elbow on the ribs, so it was tough to run a little bit."
Carr said he was unaware of Zbikowski's injury and characterized his insertion on punt returns as giving Zbikowski a spell.
"Zibby has a lot on his plate," Carr said. "He's out there on punts, kickoff returns and he's starting at safety. So it's one of those things where if he wants a break, I'll go back and help him out."
Prior to the injury, Zbikowski had averaged 10.5 yards on two punt returns and made two fair catches. Carr returned one punt for 10 yards.
Carr said he did not know what the plan was for next Sunday against the New England Patriots.
"I don't know," he said. "I can't worry about that right now."
