If you were among the Ravens fans who wanted to see Troy Smith start, you'll get your wish Sunday.

Smith, a former Ravens backup quarterback, will start for the San Francisco 49ers in London where they'll play the Denver Broncos.

It will mark Smith's first start since 2007.A fifth-round pick by the Ravens in 2007, Smith started the final two games of his rookie season after Steve McNair and Kyle Boller were injured. He went 1-1 for the Ravens, throwing two touchdowns and no interceptions.

The former Heisman Trophy winner was considered the frontrunner for the starting job in 2008 until a severe tonsil infection sidelined him in the third preseason game. With Smith sidelined for seven weeks, Joe Flacco took over as starter and never relinquished the job.

After serving as the No. 2 quarterback for the 2009 season, Smith was demoted to No. 3 this offseason when the Ravens signed veteran backup Marc Bulger.
