Southwest CEO Gary Kelly spoke today at the airline's "Media Day" - I watched on TV, uStream actually - and he and other SWA officials offered a few more tidbits you may (or may not) be interested in:
-Southwest is going to begin offering service at Newark Liberty International Airport in March. The airline will have eight daily nonstop flights, six to Chicago and two to St. Louis. Fares start at $72 each way.
-Expects to make a decision soon on the bigger planes, 737-800s, which he says could potentially open up the airline's routes to places like Hawaii.
-When the airline finished the deal to take over AirTran, it won't be taking over those pesky baggage fees. They'll disappear. Also, the airline says it has no plans to change its policy of not charging a change fee. Stay tuned for the TV ads.
