After registering 13 tackles and two takeaways in Sunday's 16-13 overtime win against the Green Bay Packers, Washington Redskins safety LaRon Landry was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week, and several pundits have said that he is playing at a Pro Bowl level.
And Dawan Landry, his older brother and starting strong safety for the Ravens, couldn't be prouder.
"That was really big for him," Landry said. "He's been playing lights out the whole season, and I expect a lot more coming from him."
LaRon Landry, the sixth overall pick in 2007, has thrived in defensive coordinator Jim Haslett's 3-4 alignment, and he ranks second in tackles with 52, according to the NFL.
His brother said the scheme, which moves LaRon Landry closer to the line of scrimmage, accentuates his strengths as a tackler.
"He's getting into a lot more action," Dawan Landry said. "Last year, he was more in the middle of the field and things like that, but he likes to get into the heat of the action. He's just reading and reacting right now. … I think the scheme fits him a little better, but at the same time, he's playing his style of football. He's always had that potential. He's just playing his game right now."
