Big, big kitty named this year's Cat Idol

Walker is a big-boned kitty.

But that's not all. The nearly 9-year-old Maine Coon from Richmond, Texas, is a big-boned kitty with a claim to fame: He's this year's Cat Idol.

Judges at this year's Meet the Breeds event in New York City chose the 25-pound Walker, whose owners Jim and Donna Hinton call him "a charming, laid-back and lovable gentle giant," for the honor from more than 40 cat breeds at the event. The Hintons say Walker is also quite debonair.

The kitty's full name is also big-boned: GC GP NW Nascat Gwydion-of-Gradach. He shot to the top of the whiskered competition by earning the most applause from the audience. For his troubles, he wins a year's supply of food from Iams, a carrier and, perhaps less glamorous, some litter.

"He is charismatic and good looking for an older guy," said Donna Hinton. "If anyone had to play him in a movie, it would absolutely be Sean Connery."
