Wednesday's practice was highlighted by the return of right tackle Jared Gaither (back), who was limited in his first team practice since Aug. 5. Linebacker Jarret Johnson also was limited in Wednesday's workout.
Tailback Ray Rice (knee), defensive end Cory Redding (concussion) and offensive linemen Tony Moll (hip) did not practice, although Rice did not show any sign of his injury walking out to practice. He wore only a black sleeve on his right knee.
Center Matt Birk (back), guard Chris Chester (back) and tight end Todd Heap (shoulder) had participated fully.
For the Steelers, only three names appeared on their injury report. Quarterback Dennis Dixon (knee), guard Trai Essex (ankle) and defensive tackle Chris Hoke (knee) did not practice Wednesday.
