After Joe Flacco nearly threw a pick-six to Browns safety T.J. Ward on his first pass of the game -- the stunned M&T Bank Stadium crowd let out a big gasp and a few people cried out "Oh my God" in the press box -- the Ravens quarterback has gone 6-for-8 for 58 yards and a touchdown.
He did most of his damage on the Ravens' second drive of the game. Down 3-0 after a Phil Dawson field goal, the Ravens marched 85 yards on 10 plays. Ray Rice busted out a 25-yard gain, then the Ravens used six straight passes -- most of them using play-action -- to move into the red zone.
Once there, Flacco floated an eight-yard touchdown pass over Browns cornerback Eric Wright to Anquan Boldin, who scored his first touchdown as a member of the Ravens. It was also Boldin's 600th career catch, who in his 98th game, became the fastest player in NFL history to reach the milestone.
We'll see if the Ravens continue to run the ball and use play-action to make things easier for Flacco against the Browns. It certainly worked in the first quarter. Well, after Flacco nearly threw a back-breaking interception in the early going.
