Once thought to be overcrowded, the wide receiver position has suddenly become an issue where depth is concerned.
As anticipated, Donte' Stallworth (broken foot) and Mark Clayton (concussion) were absent from the portion of Monday morning's practice open to the media. Stallworth and Clayton both suffered their respective injuries during the Ravens' 24-10 victory over the New York Giants Saturday night.
Demetrius Williams (sprained right ankle) did return, but he appeared to jog very carefully from the locker room to the practice field and ran at about half-speed during positional drills.
Eron Riley (strained back) practiced after missing the game against the Giants, but the offense is down to just six healthy wideouts.
Offensive tackle Oniel Cousins (concussion) and rookie fullback Mike McLaughlin were present, but both were wearing shorts. Cornerbacks Lardarius Webb (knee surgery) and K.J. Gerard (hamstring) practiced.
In addition to Stallworth and Clayton, cornerbacks Fabian Washington and Doug Dutch, guards David Hale (bruised tailbone) and Daniel Sanders (left arm/shoulder), offensive tackle Jared Gaither (thoracic disk in back), rookie nose tackle Terrence Cody (swelling in left knee) and safety Marcus Paschal (right leg) did not practice.
