Showalter not a fan of the orange throwbacks

The Orioles wore their full-on bright-orange throwback uniforms (circa 1971) Friday night as part of the Rays' "Turn Back the Clock" night promotion at Tropicana Field.

I'm no uniform expert like Paul Lukas, the guy from Uni Watch, but consider me a fan of the Orioles' Friday night attire. (Then again, I love the color orange almost as much as I love ridiculous-looking uniforms.) I'd like to see the Orioles break these babies out a few times a season, but something tell me that won't be happening as long as Buck Showalter is around.

"Take a picture because you won't see them again," Showalter said when the MASN guys asked him about the uniforms after the Orioles' 5-0 win. "Someone said they're like Halloween candy corn, but I'll take it."

Showalter quickly changed the subject to Ty Wigginton, anything to get his mind off what he was wearing. But a little later, Jim Hunter brought it up again, jokingly asking Showalter if he can bid on his jersey.

"You can have it right now," Showalter said, dead serious. "I can't wait to get out of it."

He's only been here two weeks, but I don't think it's too soon to say that's classic Buck.
