Jimmy Clausen gave the Panthers a spark in the second quarter, but his offensive line struggled against the Ravens' second-team rushers. Sacks by Paul Kruger and Tavares Gooden knocked the Panthers back and John Kasay's 40-yard field goal attempt was muffed on a fumbled snap that ended the half.

The Ravens defense looked good overall considering it was mainly the second unit. It blitzed often and had Carolina's linemen scrambling to protect Matt Moore and Clausen.
