McNabb converts three big third-and-long passes

On the first drive tonight against the Ravens, Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb at times looked like the McNabb of 10 years ago with the Philadelphia Eagles.

He has converted on three third-and-long passes to march the Redskins down the field against the Ravens' first-team defense, including a 45-yard completion to wide receiver Anthony Armstrong on third-and-10.

McNabb should have had a touchdown pass with 10:09 left in the first quarter, but a wide-open Fred Davis dropped the pass. On third-and-goal McNabb threw behind his receiver.

The Redskins settled for a 25-yard field goal by Graham Gano, who was with the Ravens in training camp last year before losing the kicking job to Steve Hauschka.

McNabb finished the first series 4-of-9 for 78 yards.
