Ravens coach John Harbaugh was surprised when Jared Gaither showed up at training camp weighing 311 pounds, saying he wasn't sure why the offensive tackle had dropped nearly 30 pounds in the offseason. "He can explain to you why," Harbaugh said Sunday. (Maybe Gaither was cursed by a gypsy.)

After making his point — and after Gaither's blood tests came back negative — Harbaugh has softened his stance, saying Tuesday that he and Gaither are on the same page.

Gaither finally gave his side of the story to reporters Tuesday. "No, we had not previously talked about it," he said. "I wasn't planning on losing this much weight, but that's done now and we're looking forward to put it back on." Gaither, who has missed practice time because of cramps, wouldn't specify what weight the team wanted him to be at.

The great Gaither weight mystery made headlines, but it hasn't stopped Harbaugh from giving Gaither a chance to reclaim the starting left tackle spot currently occupied by Michael Oher. Both tackles have been receiving reps at left tackle on the reg during training camp.

It's kind of puzzling that Gaither isn't in Harbaugh's doghouse after this whole ordeal. But until we know all the details of what exactly went down, it's hard to know if Gaither was in the wrong here.
