After watching former Ravens and current Redskins kicker Graham Gano attempt field goals tonight -- he made one of two -- I'd like to mention once again how good the kicking competition between Shayne Graham and Billy Cundiff has been so far.
Both veteran kickers performed well in training camp. Cundiff has the slight edge right now, but this battle won't be decided until the final preseason game. Tonight, Cundiff hit from 26 and 42 yards, and Graham connected on his only try, a 24-yarder. Graham missed a 50-yarder against the Panthers, but it was more of a missed opportunity than a big mistake.
I still think Graham will end up winning this one in the end, his playoff demons be damned, but I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong. Either way, though, the Ravens will be in good shape at kicker -- a lot better than they were a year ago when Steve Hauschka beat out Gano by default.
