ESPN The Mag predicts Super season for Ravens

I just opened up the latest issue of ESPN The Magazine, and I saw a few things that should make Ravens fans happy.

First things first, Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis was mean-mugging on the cover of The Mag {image at right from AP}. He was featured as one of its many "Faces of the Game," as I mentioned last week. Lewis also finished second in a player vote to determine "who's the last player you'd want to run into during a sideline-emptying brawl." Oakland defensive lineman Richard Seymour finished first.

I flipped a few pages and saw Ravens back Ray Rice being used as the dominant image for a story on the "incredibly cunning, surprisingly complex and unquestionably lethal" screen pass. The story, which had a few paragraphs on Rice, described the third-year back as a player who "plays with the fury of a balled fist."

But here is what will get fans really salivating: Both The Mag and ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski picked the Ravens to win the Super Bowl this season.

The Mag had them beating the Packers while Jaworski had them knocking off the Cowboys in their home stadium. Here's what The Mag had to say about the Ravens' best-case scenario: "Joe Flacco and the gang lift Lombardi, as talent across the roster trumps injuries to CB Domonique Foxworth and S Ed Reed."
