Ayanbadejo, Lawrence officially placed on Reserve PUP

The Ravens trimmed their roster to the 75-player limit on Tuesday when they officially moved linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo and running back Matt Lawrence from Active PUP (physically-unable-to-perform list) to Reserve PUP.

By doing that, Ayanbadejo (quads) and Lawrence (knee) will miss at least the first six weeks of the regular season and won't count against the roster. After six weeks, the Ravens would have a 21-day window to look at them in practice before deciding to add them to the 53-man roster, release them or keep them on PUP for the rest of the season.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh acknowledged that the recoveries have been slower than expected. The Ravens thought there was a chance that Ayanbadejo and Lawrence would be practicing in the spring offseason minicamps.

Ayanbadejo said he's "praying" that he'll be ready by Week 7 of the regular season.

"I hope I'll be good," Ayanbadejo said. "I'm not going to guarantee it. But I think I should be OK."

On Monday, the Ravens need cut cornerback Doug Dutch and placed offensive lineman Daniel Sanders and defensive back Marcus Paschal on injured reserve.
