LB Barnes shining in training camp

The Ravens are looking to get a better pass rush this season, and maybe the hunt is over. Outside linebacker Antwan Barnes has had a strong training camp and was the best pushing outside linebacker on the field Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers. The problem with Barnes is that he has been slow to learn the defenses, and he also struggles with success.

Every time he starts to get in a groove, Barnes lets up and slips backward. But maybe he has matured now.

He seems to be having fun in training camp, and it carried over onto the field Thursday night.

Barnes has all the physical tools. He has a great first step and is explosive. He can change direction, and has enough power to bull rush at times. He has a nasty streak and when Barnes is on, he is hard to stop.

Barnes seems to have an edge to him when dealing with the media, but once you get below the surface, he is a pretty smart guy with a good sense of humor. Maybe his time on the field finally has come, for his sake as well as the Ravens'.
