Last month, the Water Street Tavern quietly opened a new Key West Bar and patio space in its cozy downtown alleyway.
The bar itself opens up onto the street, as seen in this photo. The furniture is brand new, and the bar even hired an artist to emulate signs you might see in Key West.
"I wanted something that was a little different, like Key West when you walk up to the bars on the street and get a drink," said owner Vincent Arosemena. "It makes for an outdoor party situation." ...
The Key West Bar has a bunch of island-type drinks, from mojitos and frozen daiquiris to orange crushes and Coronas. The drinks range from $2-$5, depending on what you order.
As always, Water Street Tavern has its killer 32-ounce draft beer specials for $4, as well as 16-ounce draft beers for $2, which has to be the best all-around special you'll find downtown. On Fridays, Natty Bohs are $1.25.
"We've been lucky -- people like what we're doing," Arosemena said.
With those prices, and the now the new bar, it's easy to see why.
