Ty Wigginton doesn't last long in MLB All-Star Game

Really? We all stayed up late for this? Orioles infielder Ty Wigginton played just one inning in the field during tonight's MLB All-Star Game. He was due up in the bottom of the seventh, but Yankees manager Joe Girardi pinch-hit for him with the American League trailing, 3-1. That ended up being the final score.

I guess it was karma -- or maybe smart baseball strategy -- that led to Wigginton getting yanked because he really wasn't supposed to be in Anaheim tonight. Still, it was disappointing for Orioles fans who stayed up late to get a glimpse of Wigginton.

Anyway, I'm not a big fan of All-Star games in general (except for the NHL's), and this one was especially boring unless you're a fan of dominant pitching. But even watching aces like Cliff Lee, Jon Lester and Ubaldo Jimenez doing their thing out on the mound got boring after a while.

Atlanta catcher Brian McCann was the MVP as the National League won for the first time since 1996. I guess the Orioles won't be getting home-field advantage in the World Series now. Bummer.
