Is there anybody alive out there? Sorry, I just know that lots of you are on vacation, and I couldn't help invoking a line that a certain popular musician (as if you didn't know it was The Boss) likes to holler from the stage.
Here are some summer developments related to Terps hoops:
*Granted the games don't really count, but former Terp Greivis Vasquez makes his professional debut for the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA summer league tonight. And guess who will be on the other team? Landon Milbourne, his former Terps teammate. Milbourne is one of 12 players on the Atlanta Hawks' summer roster.
NBA TV is scheduled to air the game the following day -- Tuesday at 10 a.m.
*Former Terp Eric Hayes didn't make the summer roster of the Washington Wizards. Hayes had been invited to a Wizards mini-camp. But he was left off the squad that traveled to Las Vegas for summer-league games. Among those beating him out was guard Jerome Randle from Cal. You might remember Randle from when the Terps played the Golden Bears in the NCAA tournament a few years ago.
*Maryland recruit Nick Faust (Baltimore City College) continues to impress. Here is some video on him that my colleague Matt Bracken posted recently on his Recruiting Report blog.
"He's the whole package," AAU coach Carlton "Bub" Carrington of Nike Baltimore Elite told me of Faust. "He can shoot it, and he can get to the rack." Carrington said Faust is a good student and that he considers the player "family."
FYI, another of Carrington's players -- Jordan Latham -- was successfully recruited to Xavier one year ago by former Xavier assistant Bino Ranson. Ranson, of course, is now with the Terps.
