Good news, everybody -- Mondays-Thursdays starting today, I'm going to be picking my favorite event of the day and plugging it on Midnight Sun. I'm calling this new feature Get Out.
It could be a sweet, sweet happy hour, or a concert. Or maybe a free movie screening. Originally, I was going to pick the showing of "The Hangover" on the pier in Fells Point, but I figured the inclement weather (whoa, big words) would probably put the kibosh on it.
Instead, I'm going with Mates of State at The Ottobar. Have you seen these guys before? ...
They're a husband-and-wife duo (he plays drums and sings, she plays keyboards and sings).
I've followed Mates of State for the past six or seven years, and have been pleasantly surprised with their past few albums. They were a breath of fresh at at last year's Virgin Mobile FreeFest, amidst all the rock bands on the main stage. Good stuff.
Tonight's show starts at 8 p.m. and only costs $15. Free Energy is also going to be there. They're great too.
You take the good, you take the bad, you take 'em both and then you have ... today's Get Out.
