Joe Flacco has been on two playoff teams in his short career, but this year's group is different.
In the eyes of the Ravens quarterback, this team is better.
"I'm pretty excited, and I want to say it's the best team I've been on," Flacco told The Baltimore Sun after signing over 200 autographs at the AT&T store in Severn.
The Ravens, who have won three playoffs games under Flacco in two years, have improved the offense by trading for wide receiver Anquan Boldin, signing Donte' Stallworth and drafting two tight ends (Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta).
On defense, the Ravens signed Cory Redding to replace Dwan Edwards and added veteran depth in safety Ken Hamlin and cornerback Walt Harris. The Ravens even increased competition at kicker by signing Shayne Graham.
"We've got the talent to go as far as we want to," Flacco said. "It's about playing up to our capabilities. I think we've done that for the most part."
Even though training camp doesn't begin for a couple of weeks, Flacco has remained hard at work. He has thrown to wide receiver Anquan Boldin twice during the off time, and he flew out to Arizona to work with tight end Todd Heap for four days.
"I think we have a bunch of guys who want to do well," Flacco said. "In order to do that, you have to work hard at it. We have the right guys to do it. I think we're headed in the right direction."
