America's Got Talent: The first four semi-finalists are chosen
It's Chris in KS back from my sick bed after a rough last few days. Tonight we're going to be narrowing down the first 12 semi-finalists to four that will make it on to the next round of the competition.
The first group that is brought out on stage is Nathaniel Kenyon, Airpocalypse, Sally Cohn. And right away we're going to find out who is staying from this grouping, and what two acts will be going home. And it's Nathaniel Kenyon moving on! Sharon tells us that America "got it right" from this group.
After a commercial break and a "real treat" of Selena Gomez (let me tell you, there was a lot of excitement for her performance in our house ... actually, I had to ask the wife who she is, because I've never even heard of her), we get treated to yet another round of commercials… During this set of commercials we have a discussion about how these shows could easily be put into a half hour.
After the break Nick brings out on stage Nick Pike, Kung-Fu Heroes, and Fighting Gravity. Right away the wife claims she knows who is moving on, and I think I have to agree with her. Fighting Gravity is easily winning this trio and moving on to the next round.
The next group up is Christina & Ali, Maricar, and the Hot Shot Tap Dancers. At this point I'd like to point out that all the acts are wearing the exact same outfits that they were wearing last night. And for some odd reason, Maricar has her goggles on her head like she's ready to get back in the tank and paint again. And from this group it's Christina & Ali!
So far I don't think there have been any big surprises ...
The last remaining group is RNG, Paul Safy Jr, and Future Funk. I think this group is going to be tough, Future Funk and RNG both could be argued for moving on. But before they are brought on stage we are treated to Rock of Ages featuring Constantine Maroulis, Dee Snyder, and some lady we had no idea who she was.
After yet another commercial break the last group is brought on stage. This group will be decided on by the judges. The act that got the fewest votes out of the three is Paul Safy Jr, so now the judges must decide between Future Funk and RNG. This won't be easy and I predict Sharon will be crying before this is over. Piers selects Future Funk based solely on who he likes best, Sharon goes on technical skills and chooses RNG, and it's time for Howie to pick as the credits are rolling (and the DVR recording pulls an American Idol and luckily we had it tuned in to that channel) and see that Howie selects Future Funk!
After watching last night's show I personally picked all four acts that would be moving on, how did you do with your predictions? Are you disappointed that any of your favorites are going home? Tune in next week to catch the next 12 semi-finalists!
