Jessup-based produce company recalls spinach sold in Maryland

Jessup-based Lancaster Foods has recalled 67,000 bags of packaged fresh spinach sold in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina and Virginia due to possible Listeria contamination, according to the company.

No one has gotten sick yet, but according to Lancaster Foods' statement on the spinach recall, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture Food & Drug Protection Administration discovered Listeria monocytogenes during a random sample of packages of Krisp-Pak branded spinach with a "best enjoyed" date of June 23, 2010.
