1. Offensive tackle Jared Gaither, who returned to practice Monday, was back to being a no-show during Tuesday's involuntary workout. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said the absence had nothing to do with Gaither's injured foot. "I don't know what his reason for not being here is," Harbaugh said. It's nice to see Gaither out there fighting for playing time after losing his spot at left tackle, isn't it? Gaither's situation will be the most interesting subplot of training camp.

2. Speaking of training camp, Camp Harbaugh 2010 kicks off in Westminster on July 27. I can't wait, and that's not just because the Orioles will be 45 games out of first place by then.

3. The Ravens cut practice-squad OLB William VanDeSteeg. The person who stitches letters onto the back of practice jerseys was elated after hearing the news.

4. Harbaugh said it was "embarrassing" that the Ravens were forced to cancel their last week of OTAs because of an offseason rules violation. He said the loss of practice time won't hurt the Ravens. It certainly won't help, though.

5. Rookie tight end Dennis Pitta said he's slowly getting used to life in the NFL. "I've got a long way to go," the Ravens' fourth-round pick said. Pitta also said he's getting used to being compared to fellow rookie tight end Ed Dickson. "We're always kind of mentioned in the same breath, and that's a good thing," Pitta said. "We both came in as highly touted tight ends, and we're excited for the competition." Both guys have seen time with Joe Flacco and the first-team offense, and they'll jostle in training camp for the spot directly behind Todd Heap on the Ravens' depth chart.
