Ray Lewis' big contract beats Patrick Willis

San Francisco middle linebacker Patrick Willis signed a five-year, $50 million contract on Tuesday. It included two signing bonuses that total $19.9 million.

There's no arguing that this is a big-money deal. But the one signed by Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis in July 2002 was much better.

Lewis, who was 27 at the time (two years older than Willis is now), signed a similar deal -- but it has to be considered superior when you factor in inflation.

Eight years ago, Lewis signed a seven-year, $50 million contract. His total signing bonus was $19 million, which was an NFL record at the time.
