Pre-game and a little in-game as Wieters goes yard

It wasn't a very newsy pregame meeting with Orioles manager Dave Trembley. I guess the biggest news is Koji Uehara (strained left hamstring) will not be activated until Thursday in Minnesota at the earliest.

Uehara is scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Norfolk tonight for a second straight day, and the club will give him two days off before determining whether to activate him from the disabled list.

Trembley also stressed the need for both Luke Scott and Nolan Reimold to get going offensively. Both are scheduled to take early batting practice before tomorrow night's game.

Throw Garrett Atkins into that group as well. The Orioles are one of three teams that still haven't gotten a homer from a first baseman. The Colorado Rockies and the Cleveland Indians are the other two if you care.

And Atkins and Reimold are both 0-for-1 tonight with strikeouts. At least Matt Wieters hit a second-inning, opposite-field homer off CC Sabathia to give the Orioles a 1-0 lead. And Jeremy Guthrie didn't hit anybody in the first inning.

Jim Beattie, Mike Flanagan and Lee Mazzilli are all in the house tonight at Yankee Stadium. Just thought I'd pass that along.
