A position-by-position look at the Ravens after the draft:

Safety

Starters: Ed Reed and Dawan Landry.

Top backups: Tom Zbikowski, Haruki Nakamura (injury, broken ankle) and K.J. Gerard.

Reserves: Marcus Paschal, Ashton Hall (undrafted, Marshall).

Biggest change: Mark Carrier, the team's defensive backs coach since 2006, decided to go to the New York Jets to become their defensive line coach. He hopes the move helps him become a defensive coordinator. But the Ravens still have Chuck Pagano, who has been the team's secondary coach for the past two seasons.

Top offseason storyline: Hey, did you hear the one about Ed Reed contemplating retirement? Well, coach John Harbaugh expects Reed to show for this weekend's mandatory minicamp after talking to the Pro Bowl safety before the draft. It would be a major surprise if Reed decides to retire.

Burning question: Does Reed's nerve impingement in his neck and shoulder -- which caused him to think about retirement -- worsen this season and affect his play?
