Adam Jones has been scratched from the lineup for today's game against the New York Yankees.
The Orioles center fielder is sitting because of a right hip strain. It is not expected to be a serious ailment, but it supposedly happened during last night's game. I'm not sure whether it was on his dive for Francisco Cervelli's liner in the third inning or what. We'll obviously know more after the game.
Lou Montanez gets the start in center field instead, while Julio Lugo moves up to the leadoff spot. Matt Wieters is in the lineup as the DH with Craig Tatum starting behind the plate.
Jones' status also could affect the pending roster move to activate Koji Uehara in time for tomorrow's series opener in Minnesota. Montanez was the likely candidate to go down to Norfolk, but they are not going to send him down with Jones' status in limbo.
Alberto Castillo could now be the guy headed out.
