Linebacker Jarret Johnson, who played most of the 2009 season with a torn right labrum, is on schedule with his recovery from arthroscopic shoulder surgery.
Johnson is attending this weekend's minicamp, but isn't cleared to participate. He is noticeably thinner -- down to 246 pounds from last year's playing weight of 262. In addition to gaining the weight back, he needs to regain his strength.
"I'll use the summer to get stronger," he said.
This morning, defensive coordinator Greg Mattison pointed out that Johnson has been helping rookie linebacker Sergio Kindle through the early steps of his pro career. Kindle will line up behind Johnson, but the plan is for Johnson to move inside in some situations and have both players on the field at the same time.
