Edgar Jones is making another position switch in an effort to stay with the Ravens, moving to outside linebacker for this weekend's minicamp, according to the team.
In his first three seasons with the Ravens, Jones has gone from outside linebacker to tight end. There had been talk this offseason that Jones was going to fullback. Instead, he is going back to the spot where he began his NFL career.
"It's the same position that I came in as, so it's kind of like riding a bike," Jones told the team's web site. "A lot of guys are one-dimensional, but I've been blessed enough to be able to contribute on offense, defense and special teams."
Last year, Jones finished fourth on the team with a career-high 19 tackles on special teams.
But the Ravens didn't tender Jones as a restricted free agent (it would have required a one-year salary of $1.1 million). The team later retained him with a one-year contract worth the veteran minimum ($545,000).
"I'm willing to do whatever I can around here," Jones said, "so I don't mind if they put me in different positions."
