Primary Witness survived a jockey challenge from No Mesa With Me and outlasted Kurbat in the stretch to win the mile and 1/16th Maryland Heritage Purse in the first race on the Preakness card. Jockey Luis Garcia's objection that both Primary Witness and Kurbat interfered in the upper stretch was not allowed.  Javier Castellanowas on Primary Witness and Julien Leparoux on Kurbat.

In the one-mile Virtual Golf Girl Race on turf, Virsito dueled Mikoshi in midstretch, lost the lead and came back to win by a head in the final 50 yards under Ramon Dominguez. Varsito, ridden by Ramon Dominguez, paid $14.

Convey Ahead won the $36,000 allowance in the third race, beating Black Gabriel by a length and a half under Elvis Trujillo. Idolatry was third with a mild rally. Eibar Coa was aboard Black Gabriel.

Castellano came back to win the fourth race, the 1 1/16th Deputed Testamony Starter Handicap, on Northpoint Costas for trainer Dale Capuano. Northpoint Costas won by two lengths over Midnite Communion, also trained by Capuano. Money for Love (jockey Andria Terrill) was third.

Lighthouse Sound ran away from the allowance field in the mile and 1/16th CoverGirl turf race, beating Macho Chick by 3 1/4 lengths. Dominguez came from eighth to grab the lead in midstretch and paid $9.40. Orlando Bocachica was on Macho Chick and Luis Garcia rode Choptank to third.

Comedero took control at the quarter pole under Robby Albarado and ran away from the field to win the $100,000 Chick Lang Stakes in the sixth race. Comedero, trained by Michael Stidham, beat Latigo Shore (trainer Nick Zito, jockey Mike Smith) by 3 3/4 lengths. Quiet Invader, with trainer Bob Baffert and jockey Martin Garcia, finished third in 6 furlongs.
