The Orioles demoted left-handed reliever Alberto Castillo to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday. The move was made to make room on the active roster for reliever Koji Uehara, though Uehara hasn't officially been recalled. The club will announce a move tomorrow.
Uehara, who is on the disabled list with a left hamstring strain, is coming off four scoreless rehabilitation outings, two for Double-A Bowie and two for the Tides. Over the four appearances, he gave up three hits in four innings, striking out two and walking one.
Castillo was 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA in six games for the Orioles this season. He allowed six hits and a walk in five total innings, striking out seven. He had given up a run in each of his past three outings.
