Afternoon Preakness Day races recap

Javier Castellano won his third Preakness Day race and Beau Choix, a chestnut colt, stalked the pace horses to come up with a win in the seventh race, the one-mile James W. Murphy Stakes, beating Manhattan Fox (jockey Garrett Gomez) by 1 3/4 lengths. Castellano briefly dropped the left rein at the 16th pole. "It was a mess. I feel like I never rose in my life," he said.

Blame (jockey Garrett Gomez) beat No Advantage (jockey Manuel Chavez), winning the $100,000 Grade 3 William Donald Schaefer Stakes, by 1 1/2 lengths in the eighth race on the Preakness Day card. Blame won for the sixth time in nine starts, but it was 4-year-old bay colt's first start with trainer Albert M. Stall Jr.

Rainbow View, with Julien Leparoux aboard, moved from the fourth position down the stretch, running down Denomination, Quiet Meadow and Way With Words to win the ninth race, the Gallorette Handicap, a $100,000 Grade 3 race, by half a length. Leparoux went to the hospital Friday after he was unseated by Diva Delite in the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes. "I thought she was comfortable all the way around the track," Leparoux said.
