There's good news when it comes to the fight on crime in Baltimore. City police say during the first three months of 2010 we've had our fewest number of homicides in decades.

As was first reported in The Baltimore Sun Monday, 40 people were killed in the city up until April 1. In the two years prior, more than 50 people died in the same time period due to violence. Meanwhile, public safety remains a primary concern in leading major U.S. cities, including Baltimore.

Just last week Newark, N.J., celebrated it's first murder-free month in 40 years, but the streak ended Wednesday. However, it's still remarkable that there were no murders for a whole month. Now, I wonder if Baltimore can do the same.
