Tin Anniversary for Towson U. Student Media Arts Festival

I didn't know that the 10th anniversary was the "tin" anniversary until Tim Burton put out the "Tin Anniversary Edition of 'Edward Scissorhands.'"

Towson University's Department of Electronic Media and Film kicks off its 10th anniversary celebration Thursday night with the start of the 2010 Annual Towson University Student Media Arts Festival.

Open screenings will be held at the Van Bokkelen Hall Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Monday nights. The categories cover everything from the traditional (documentaries) to the contemporary (music videos) and the cutting edge (viral videos). The Festival includes a 10th Anniversary Party, also at 7 p.m., in the Van Bokkelen Hall Auditorium.

The department has established itself in a short time as a regional magnet for film studies and student production. EMF head Greg S. Faller, a former film editor himself, was recently cited as the authority on the great film editor Dede Allen ("The Hustler," "Bonnie and Clyde") in the stream of appreciations that poured out after her death.

The anniversary may be tin, but there's nothing weak or flimsy about it.
