Bottle tax for Baltimore: Frugal Dilemmas

... but frankly, if you're really trying to save money, the cheapest option to invest in a reusable bottle or mug and drink tap water instead of buying a bottled beverage.

That's not always convenient ... but convenience always costs more.

Since this tax will also be levied on water bottles --- and not on two-liter bottles of carbonated favorites --- it's hard to argue that this is meant to discourage people from "vice beverages" like soda or beer.

Then again, it seems like consumers are spending less money on beverages anyway -- alcoholic or non-alcoholic. A tax such as this one may help accelerate that trend.
