Fundraisers can be stuffy affairs. Fundraisers at School 33 Art Center? Far from it. The 18th incarnation of School 33 Art Center’s annual event features juried — and donated — art from 120 local artists, as well as a “cocktail buffet” (my favorite kind of buffet, by the way). I also love the way this is set up. There’s a pretty hefty “art ticket” price ($175 — hey, it’s supporting School 33), but each art ticket holder is guaranteed to take home a work of art in a lottery drawing. And if the price is a bit too steep for you, there are guest tickets for $50, but you’re not eligible to select artwork. Preview the Lotta Art work at Silo Point Thursday through Saturday (noon-5 p.m.). Lotta Art event starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, followed by the drawing at 7:30 p.m. 1427 Light St., Federal Hill.

STUDENTS ON FILM Media Arts Festival
Towson University
Documentary and experimental are just a few of the categories in this annual festival showcasing student work in judged, open screenings (7 p.m. Thursday through Monday). MOST INTRIGUING PREMISE: "Antarctica" from Glass Mind Theatre Company. It's a one-act about two high-school best friends bored with teenage life who travel to the South Pole. It's a comedy.
